About the company

Reducate is an EdTech scale-up, originally founded in 1998 under the name E-Wise. In 2022, they joined forces with Danish company Blueprint Learning and continued under the name Reducate, growing into one of the largest e-learning providers in Europe. In the Netherlands, they are already known as the market leader in e-learning for practice-oriented professions, think of doctors, dentists, physiotherapists, as well as many other diverse target groups.

Since the merger and rebranding as Reducate, growth has accelerated significantly. They now work with around 110 colleagues in Utrecht, 200+ in Breda, and another 25 people at the office in Denmark. While the company is international, the vast majority of colleagues are Dutch-speaking and bring that direct and work hard, play hard culture into the workplace.

Recently, they made a strategic decision to make their entire working environment AI-driven. For that reason, they are looking for serious AI-first Engineers with a broad skill set in PHP (Laravel).

What will you be doing?

As a Senior PHP Developer at Reducate, you’ll have a very versatile role. It’s important that you have a solid background in AI, not just using it as a side project to experiment with, but applying it on a daily basis as a core principle in your work. Think of using AI in designing, further developing, testing, and debugging software.

You won’t just be writing code, you will play a major part in redefining how software should be built.

To give you a better idea of the role, here’s a brief overview of your responsibilities:

• Take ownership of features end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, and observability

• Design scalable patterns for multi-tenant environments, performance, and internationalisation

• Actively apply AI at the core of your daily work, for example:

  • test scaffolding

  • creating fixtures

  • analysing logs

  • proposing refactorings

  • validating architecture

  • improving and streamlining the developer experience

• Contribute to the internal AI Engineering Playbook

• Work daily with Product, UX, and QA in a cross-functional squad

• Coach colleagues in both Laravel and AI-assisted development

• Improve and safeguard quality standards through regular code reviews, documentation, and strong test coverage

This team delivers product features, improves the developer experience, and continuously looks for ways to embed AI into the daily workflow.

What do we expect from you?

To be successful in this role, the following criteria have been defined:

Must-haves

• At least 7 years of professional experience as a PHP Developer

• At least 3–5 years of professional experience with Laravel

• You master SOLID principles, write clean code, and bring substantial experience in TDD environments

• Strong background in databases, especially extensive experience with MySQL

• Experience in more complex, mission-critical environments

• You are fluent in both Dutch and English, spoken and written

• You bring a proactive, experimental mindset towards AI-assisted engineering

Nice to haves

• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS

• Knowledge of Livewire / Filament

• Experience with AWS Vapor, Terraform, and Docker

• Experience with Playwright, E2E testing, and Meilisearch

• Domain knowledge of regulated industries

• Experience migrating large data environments
