Fullstack Developer
What if your code could make electric driving more accessible, efficient, and future-proof — not just for thousands, but for millions across Europe?
As a Senior Fullstack Developer in this newly formed Innovation Lab, you’ll work at the intersection of technology, sustainability, and experimentation. From smart charging and carbon tracking to next-gen EV infrastructure, you’ll prototype the software that powers Europe’s green energy transition — one line of code at a time.
About the company
This Rotterdam-based tech company is a European leader in EV charging infrastructure. Operating in 22 countries, they provide a full-service SaaS platform that connects charge points, payment systems, and mobility providers into one seamless experience.
They do everything in-house — from developing the payment engine to designing protocols that ensure cross-border compatibility. With over 60 engineers (from backend to embedded), the company runs 3 million+ transactions per month, many of them in real time. This is a place where scalability, resilience, and innovation are not buzzwords, but daily engineering reality.
Culture-wise, expect flat hierarchies, low-ego teams, and a high-trust environment where you’re encouraged to challenge assumptions, build fast, and think long-term. You’ll be surrounded by people who care deeply — not only about clean code, but about building systems that drive real-world change.
The Team
You’ll be joining a newly established Innovation & R&D team — a kind of internal startup within the company. The team sits outside day-to-day product delivery and focuses on discovery, prototyping, and experimentation. Think: building MVPs, testing technical feasibility, and validating new ideas before handing them over to core engineering.
The current team includes:
- An Innovation Manager (business/product side)
- Two R&D engineers (mid-level technical)
You – the first senior fullstack developer to take the lead on architecture, stack decisions, and development
The team collaborates closely with product leadership, embedded/IOT experts, and backend engineers in a domain-driven architecture setup. You’ll have direct access to decision makers and full visibility on product strategy.
The Challenge
Your mission: rapidly build and validate functional prototypes for new features and services in the EV charging domain. These are not throwaway demos — they’re real, testable software components that may become tomorrow’s core product.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the technical side of innovation projects — from idea to working prototype
- Build fullstack MVPs using modern tech (PHP, Angular/Vue/React, containers)
- Validate technical feasibility, scalability, and maintainability
- Act as sparring partner to business, product, and UX
- Work closely with core engineering to hand over successful prototypes
- Stay up to date with relevant trends in EV, payments, mobility, and distributed systems
Example projects you could work on:
- Smart Charging Algorithms – dynamic pricing & load balancing
- Plug & Charge Protocols – secure ID-less charging across Europe
- Carbon Certificate Tracking – real-time emission data for users and governments
- Payment Splitting – peer-to-peer or multi-party payment infrastructure
- High-availability APIs – serving thousands of requests per second, globally
Tech stack
You don’t need to know all of this — but you should be eager to dive in.
Backend:
- PHP (core)
- Symfony (select modules)
- MySQL / NoSQL
- Redis / RabbitMQ
- RESTful APIs
- Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- AWS / CI-CD pipelines
Frontend:
- Angular (preferred), Vue.js or React
- TypeScript
- Storybook / component-driven UI
- Cypress or similar for end-to-end testing
Dev culture:
- GitHub / GitLab, Infrastructure as Code
- Test-driven development encouraged
- Pairing & knowledge sharing culture
- Slack > meetings
What you bring
- 4+ years experience as Fullstack Developer
- Strong backend foundation (preferably PHP/Symfony)
- Solid frontend experience (Angular preferred, Vue/React fine)
- Experience building systems at scale (high traffic, high availability)
- Interest in green energy, e-mobility, or sustainable tech
- Comfortable in ambiguity: you can design systems with incomplete specs
- Ability to bridge business and tech, challenge ideas, and communicate clearly
- Based in the Netherlands or open to relocating (3 days/week in Rotterdam)
The offer
- Salary: €70.000 – €90.000 (depending on level) + annual bonus
- Time off: 25 vacation days + 13 ADV days
- Commute: NS Business Card or travel allowance
- Pension: Competitive employer contribution
- Hybrid: 3 days office, 2 remote – flexible planning
- Gear: Laptop of your choice + modern dev tools
- Growth: Personal learning budget + training days
- Culture: Friday drinks, team trips, hackdays & access to EV test fleet

Why now?
Europe is electrifying — and this company is powering the infrastructure behind it. In this role, you won't just build prototypes, you’ll shape how millions of people experience electric mobility. If you’re ready to combine technical impact with real-world relevance, this is the place.
