Our partner, founded in 1998 and based in Utrecht, is a leading e-learning company focused on practice-oriented professional fields. They support professionals in sectors such as healthcare — including doctors, dentists, and physiotherapists — as well as many other industries. In total, they currently serve around 40 different target groups. They achieve this by offering courses that are fully developed in-house, hiring specialized experts for each professional field.
The company is the market leader in e-learning in the Netherlands, with the ambition to become the largest player in Europe. To achieve this, they are acquiring companies across Europe, including the recent acquisition of Denmark's largest edtech company. Their goal is to complete as many acquisitions as possible over the next five years and grow into Europe's leading provider.
The biggest current challenge is the integration of various "isolated islands" within the organization. They work with both healthcare institutions and organizations like the CBR (Central Office for Motor Vehicle Driver Testing), which has led to the software being spread across separate systems. The plan for the coming years is to merge these different systems into a single platform, comparable to a "Netflix" for courses. In addition, the acquisition of other companies brings extra challenges, such as integrating different tech stacks and organizational structures.
Job Description
The team consists of 11 developers, 3 Product Owners, and dedicated UX and QA specialists. They are currently divided into 2 teams and are planning to grow to 3. They work in a hybrid setup, with Mondays and Wednesdays as office days. Ideas and initiative are highly valued, and there’s plenty of room to grow and contribute!
Are you a driven Lead Developer with a passion for Laravel and a proven track record across its various components? Does working on a complex multi-tenant SaaS application in a serverless setup excite you?
Their tech stack is state-of-the-art, built around multiple services with a strong focus on their main platform. Laravel is used both as an API and a UI framework, leveraging Filament and Livewire. React is also part of the frontend architecture. AWS hosts their cloud infrastructure, with Laravel Vapor supporting a serverless environment. Infrastructure is managed as code using Terraform, and GitHub Actions powers their multistage CI/CD pipelines.
Job Requirements
- A strong senior PHP/Laravel developer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience with the Laravel framework
- 7+ years of experience as a professional developer or software engineer
- Proven leadership experience or a clear ambition to take on a lead role
- DevOps mindset with experience in CI/CD processes; familiarity with Terraform and AWS is a strong plus
- Solid understanding of clean code practices, SOLID principles, and a test-driven development mindset
- Strong grasp of relational databases and their design
- Hands-on experience with unit testing and testing frameworks
