The Company
Our client is a small indie studio that recently did a successful launch of their NFT collection and they've now started building their new MMORPG. I just want to say upfront that it doesn't matter if Bitcoin crashes tomorrow. You will still have a job. So with that out of the way. Let's get started shall we?
The studio currently consists of 15 people of which 5 are community managers and the rest work dedicated on creating the game. They are very ambitious and want to grow the team to 30 people by the end of 2022.
Also, the company is completely remote and it doesn't even matter if you're in the US next week and Japan the week after. Every timezone is fine. This is the future of work, deal with it.
The Job
They are looking for Medior or Senior backend engineer that knows how to work or has an interest in Rust. You will help us build the serverside infrastructure for the game to run on and make all the blockchain aspects of this game work!
You will ship robust and high-performance code, be passionate about gaming, and be interested in amassing more knowledge about both the Blockchain and NFT Games. As part of a young, very dedicated team, they will enjoy a creative, challenging and collaborative environment that stimulates and rewards proactivity and enthusiasm.
Yes I know, that last sentence is buzzwords galore but a lot of people from the company are from the Nordics and that mentality is engrained in that area of the world. It's really cool, I'm actually a bit jealous.
The Requirements
Sounds fun right? Good, because it is a a creative playground for adults. But just like the playground when you were a kid. You need to be able to stand on your own because the game relies on you and your team. Because you are the people that develop maintainable code, write it well-structured and optimize it so it runs on every platform. Yes every platform. Even a smart-fridge.
In addition to this there is of course blockchain part. The game is build on the Ethereum network and serverside of the game is build in Rust. Now it's not required you have knowledge of this but it helps ofcourse. Whats more important is that you're eager to learn!
So do you have the following requirements?
- English proficiency at a native or fluent level.
- Working experience of at least 2-3 years with Rust or Senior Software Engineering skills where language doesn't matter or proficiency in C++
- Knowledge of, and experience with, the Blockchain is desirable.
- Proficiency with software design patterns.
