Data Architect – Lead Cloud Migration & Platform Design

Job description
As Data Architect, you will lead the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of the organization’s cloud-native data architecture. You will be responsible for platform decisions, governance design, and the migration of data environments — including the move from Snowflake to Databricks. Working closely with engineering and business teams, you will ensure that the data platform is secure, scalable, and aligned with both technical and strategic goals.
Key responsibilities include:

Designing and implementing a cloud-based data warehouse architecture (Azure, Databricks)

Leading the migration from legacy systems such as Snowflake

Establishing and maintaining governance frameworks around data quality, security, and compliance

Collaborating with stakeholders to translate business needs into architectural decisions

Providing technical leadership to the data engineering team

Staying up to date with industry developments in cloud data infrastructure
Requirements

5+ years of experience in data architecture or related technical leadership roles

Strong experience with Azure, Databricks, SQL, DBT, and modern ELT/ETL practices

Solid understanding of data modeling, integration patterns, and data governance principles

Experience working in international and cross-functional environments

Proficiency in English and Dutch (minimum B1 level)

Valid EU work permit or permanent residence in the Netherlands

Strong communication skills and ability to engage with both technical and business stakeholders

Gross monthly salary between €4.300 and €6.200, depending on experience
